Death By Chocolate Cake

This cake is made by me for my sister's birthday.I have named it as death by chocolate because it has two layers which are totally covered with chocolate ganache , chocolate whipped cream & chocolate chips over it .

I find an opportunity to bake at the drop of a hat.A new appealing recipe with ingredients ready in my kitchen sees me rushing to line my pans and pull out my weighing scale and hand held mixer,switch on the music and bake to glory.But when someone asks me to bake something in particular,I am huffing and puffing and losing patience even if the slightest thing goes wrong.

Being the chocoholics we are,there was no death of chocolate cake recipe in my repertoire,but I wanted something special as the birthday girl wanted a special cake my way.

Ingredients :-
Dry ingredients:
1.)1 1/2 cup maida
2.)1 1/2 tsp baking powder
3.)1/2 tsp baking soda
4.)50gm cocoa powder
5.)A pinch of salt

Wet ingredients:

1.)1 cup curd
2.)1/2 cup oil
3.)3 tbsp milk
4.)1 1/2 tsp vanilla essence
5.)1 tsp vinegar
6.)1 tablespoon sugar
7.)1 cup condensed milk
8.) 1 cup melted chocolate

Method:-
1.) Sieve together all the dry ingredients 3 times and keep aside.

2.)Whisk all of the wet ingredients together.

3.)Now mix the dry & wet ingredients.(If your cake mixture is too thick then add hot water as per requirement .)

4.)Preheat oven @180 centigrade for 10 mins, grease cake tin with oil & maida .

5.)Transfer the cake mixture in the cake tin  and bake @ 180 centigrade for 10 to 15 mins.

6.)After baking check it by inserting a toothpick inside it if the toothpick comes out clean your cake is ready for further use .
Cool 10 minutes remove from pans to wire racks. Cool completely.

Soaking Syrup:-
Mix together 1/2 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water along with a tsp rum or vanilla and mix well.refrigerate till required.

Ingredients required for assembling the cake :
1.)1/2 cup sugar syrup
2.) 1 cup Chocolate ganache
3.)2 cups  chocolate whipped  cream
4.) Edible sugar stars for garnish(as per requirement)
5.) Chocolate chips for garnish (as per requirement)

Assembling the cake:-
1.)Poke small holes on the cakes using a toothpick and using a pastry brush,apply the soaking syrup all over.

2.)Sandwich the cooled cakes using the chocolate whipped cream and crumb coat the cake.Chill in the fridge for 10 minutes.

3.)Now apply the chocolate ganache over the cake layer. Apply the cream on top and sides to cover the cake completely.

4.)Now place the 2nd layer over the first one and pour the chocolate ganache & the chocolate cream over it .

5.)Finally garnish the cake with chocolate chips & edible sugar stars.

6.)Serve chilled.
