Hara Bhara Kabab



Hara bhara kabab recipe – A healthy & delicious Indian vegetarian snack made with spinach, potatoes and green peas. Kabab is a piece of meat or vegetable most commonly char grilled. Rajma kabab, soya kababs, corn kabab & hara bhara kabab are some of the vegetarian kabab that make a perfect snack. These are also be served as a starter. They are a quick energy booster suitable to all including toddlers.

Ingredients (240 ml cup used)

1.}300 grams potatoes

2.}½ cup coriander leaves

3.}1 cup green peas

4.}1 to 3 green chilies

5.}120 grams spinach (or palak 1 medium size bunch)

6.}3 tbsp. chickpea flour (or besan, can replace with bread crumbs)

7.}¼ cup bread crumbs (optional, use if dough not stiff)

8.}1 ½ tsp ginger garlic paste

9.}salt as needed

10.}½ tsp garam masala

11.{¼ tsp amchur powder (or lemon juice)

12.}2 to 3 tsp oil for frying

Prepration:-

1.)Boil potatoes until just cooked. Make sure they are firm and not mushy.

2 )Dry roast chickpea flour till it turns aromatic. Set this aside.

3.)Saute ginger garlic paste in oil till the raw smell is gone. Add peas and chilies. Then stir fry until peas are cooked. You can also saute palak now until it wilts off.

4.)Saute the spice powders and salt.  Cool completely.

5.)If you haven't sauteed the spinach then you can blanch it.  Blanch the spinach in 2 cups of hot water. Drain off completely. Make sure there is no water left otherwise kabab will turn soft. 

6.)Blend together peas mixture, spinach and coriander leaves to a smooth paste.

7.)Mash the potatoes and add the ground paste. Next mix the besan to make a uniform non-sticky dough.

8.)If the dough turns sticky, then add bread crumbs to absorb excess moisture.

9.)Add a half cashewnut as garnish over it .

How to make hara bhara kabab

1.)Make patties and fry on hot tawa till golden.

2.)Serve hara bhara kabab with ketchup or chutney.
